Assemblage.

Half term has been mad. I have done all sorts and been everywhere. Well not quite but it feels like. Last week my mum and I took a 1000 mile road trip down south to go to my interviews for Uni ( TERRIFYING). Anyway on our trip we went to a number of different places, in a number of different counties, but the best had to be Cornwall. I love it so much there, it is so amazingly beautiful and the light seems so much clearer down there too...but that might just be me getting over excited!

Weirdly this photo really reminds me of the Hunger Games, being trapped in the dome in which the games are played. I find it so eerie that you can see the silhouettes of the trees outside.

My dad and I went on a day trip to a local museum of ours earlier on in the holiday called the Bowes Museum. Currently it has an exhibition on by Gavin Turk. It shows a series of colourful lights really.

The number represents the exact number of people on the planet the moment it was put up.

I thought this photo was so interesting, I don't know where the lobster on the left came from, but its quite amazing!

Give it some perspective.

I came across Rafael Araujo’s work today whilst scanning through this website. I was literally blown away. As a keen and avid artist myself I feel a connection with most art work that I see. I always seem to put myself into the artists position and ask myself, could I ever do something like that?! Usually the result is that I wont know unless I try and consequently I find myself reaching for the nearest pencil and having a go. Basically what I am rambling on about it that work like this inspires me. It makes me want to look closer and imagine every line being drawn.
I couldn't resist showing you all this, Rafael Araujo is an artist who works a lot, like A LOT with perspective, but his work has an interesting twist, because he adds insects and natural forms into it. He spends many many hours making these masterpieces. It is totally worth it though.

Well here are some photos of his work, there is more information about them here, where I got the photos from.

Before Colour.

I have started a book collection. Not reading books, picture books, you know those sophisticated books you would find on an artists book shelf. I only have about 10 so far, but I got a couple of new ones for my birthday one of which was called Before Colour, by William Eggleston. It is essentially a book of really beautiful black and white photos. Anyway so I thought I would show you a few of my favourites...

Deptford Goth.

Life has been quite odd recently. I have had so much to do and nothing to do at the same time. Seems strange but it does make sense. Anyway yesterday was my Birthday. I am now officially 18. An adult I think this makes me. To be honest I feel exactly the same. I haven't even been able to test any of my new 'abilities' yet. It was great though. Its quite nice being at school for it in a way, makes you feel like you have loads of friends haha. My parents came to visit too which was awesome, and I got a new guitar! Such a surprise! She is so beautiful and the sound is something else...still trying to come up with a name for her, feel free to comment any suggestions! My other one is called Finair....I know, bit random but I have always liked it as a name.

Anyway the point of this post isn't to blab about all that really, it is in fact to tell you about this artist I love. I have been listening to him since the beginning of last summer. It came to my attention recently though that he really isn't well known enough so I thought I would make a start about telling you.

His music is quite mellow. Can be sad. But I like it for those kinds of moods. It makes me want to sit in silence and just listen to my thoughts.

The first song of his I heard was Feel Real...

One of his most recent songs is called Objects Objects, I think it came out in December, I really love this one and I think it is going to become one of my most favourites...

Im not sure if this is everyones cup of tea, but let me know if you like it.

Roller Skater.

Ok so I just saw this film on youtube...I just couldn't resist showing you all because it is SO AWESOME! These girls are like insane. Roller skating is just the coolest thing. If you can roller skate you are my hero. I wish I was you.

Watch in awe...

This kind of reminds me of the film Whip it...I know I have talked about it before here, probably a lot. But god I wish I could roller skate!

Hope you like.
